Hey Heather is a five-piece rock band from the capital of Finland.
It all started in fall 2008 when long time friends Joni (gtr) and Jontsa (drums) decided to make music with something old, something new, something borrowed and something not blues: swelling pop-melodies combined with punk rocks energetic essence.
They found Joonas (vox) and Väinö (gtr, b.vox) to share their vision and Heather had taken her first breath. After a few line-up changes in bass guitar they found Pete (bass) to complete their sound. The band had played over a hundred venues so far, shared a stage with some of the biggest acts in Finland and played a promo tour in Switzerland. And their live act makes sure that no member of the audience catches a cold.
In 2009 Hey Heather signed a record-deal with Finnish independent label, Scandal Music Company, and their first single “Regrets?” was released on 1.9.2010. It went straight to number #1 on Finnish radio station YleX´s Himotuimmat (most lusted) –chart and dominated there four months straight with seven number one-weeks. It was followed by a second single “Drop Dead Time” in January 2011, with a music video. You can also spot the video on a finnish music television, The Voice.
Hey Heather got voted in Tulevaisuuden tusina 2011 -list as of the twelve most promising new bands in Finland. The list was chosen by Finnish music industry executives including promoters, reporters, agents, A&Rs.
Alongside all that Hey Heather recorded their debut album We Are Not Safe Here. The album has recorded in Redfive Studios with Toni Kimpimäki and its produced by Jani Lagerström. With a few candidates on mastering, the band decided to use BlastingRoomStudios and Jason Livermore (Rise Against, NOFX, etc.) to give the finishing touch on the album.
We Are Not Safe Here was released 16.3.2011.
Third single "To Heather" made a new mark when Radio Sputnik, Finland´s biggest russian speaking radio, took it on their playlist and daily rotation.
The band is also been busy writing a blog about their record release -tour for the biggest youth/music magazine in Finland, Suosikki-magazine.
At the moment Hey Heather is writing new stuff on their upcoming second album, which is planned to come out in spring 2012.
